My first photograph is from the painting with light assignment. For the blue circle I used a string of white skull lights. For the red blob I used a string of red lights. The white lights were bigger and heavier than the red lights, so when I spun both strings at the same time, the red string got tangled and therefore the red is a blob of light rather than a circle. At first I was disappointed that the picture didn't turn out the way I wanted, but when I looked at the picture I realized the "mistake" actually improved the picture and made it more interesting. The blue looks cool, calm, and icy, while the red looks fiery, hot, and angry. I used a shutter speed of 15 seconds to take this shot.
My second photograph is from the first assignment of the year, line and shape. I took this photo of a window on a stairway in the 200s at school during class. I stood underneath the window and took the picture from the bottom right corner up toward the upper left corner. There is a repetition of rectangles on the window and there are leading lines up the window.
My third photograph is from the motion assignment. Sarah spun around in a circle while the picture was taken with a shutter speed of three seconds. We had to take the photo in a shady area because when we tried to take it in a sunny area, the long shutter speed allowed too much light in and the photo was overexposed. The "danger" sign in the background was unintentional, but I think it adds to the eerie look of Sarah's blurred body.
My fourth photo was taken for the shadow assignment. I was sort of fooling around when I put the smaller skull into the larger skull's mouth, but the photograph turned out to be pretty interesting. There was a lamp shining on the left side of the skulls, creating a shadow on the right side of them.
My fifth photograph was taken for the depth and space assignment. I took this photo while I was on a trip to New York city about a month ago. The branches on the tree frame the building and draws your eyes to the top of the photo. I think the empty tree branches against the night sky and dark building in the background make the top half of the photograph look almost spooky. If I could change anything about this photo I was change how some parts of the picture are overexposed.
My sixth and final photograph is from the pattern and texture assignment. The photo is of one of the racks in the ceramics room. This picture was taken from above the rack down to the bottom shelf. There is a pattern of rectangles on the shelves throughout the photograph. There is slight blur in the foreground and it gets clearer in the background.
